A computer failure has caused major delays this week in the State Department’s passport and visa issuing system, the agency said.
All the visa applicants are concerned and none of them will received their visa for the United States. This is a world-wild problem, not specific to any country, document or visa category.
This problem affects obviously the H1B Visa, the L1 Visa and the E2 Visa.
State Department doesn’t know yet when the system will return to normal operations.
The number of requested documents and impossible to be delivered, is unknown.
Just for the record, millions of visa requests are processed each year by the Bureau of Consular Affairs.
According to The State Department spokeswoman, visa processing was hit hardest by the computer problem. The root has not been identified yet, however, the State Department doesn’t believe in “malicious action” such as terrorism or sabotage.
Still according to the spokeswoman, since Saturday the system has experienced performance problems, including outages.
All the applicants for the H1B Visa, the L1 Visa and the E2 Visa are concerned and will have to wait for an unknown waiting time period.
