Bronx Zoo, Easiest places for kids to start their life

Zoos are the easiest places for kids to start their life of traveling. If you relocate to New York with your children, Bronx Zoo will be a great spot that you cannot miss.

The Bronx Zoo is located in the Bronx borough of New York City, within Bronx Park. It is one of the world's largest metropolitan zoos, with some 4,000 animals representing about 650 species from around the world. The zoo comprises 265 acres (107 ha) of park lands and naturalistic habitats, through which the Bronx River flows.

The Bronx Zoo is part of an integrated system of four zoos and one aquarium managed by the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), and is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).

The zoo's world-class exhibits such as Congo Gorilla Forest, the Wild Asia Monorail, Tiger Mountain, and the newest exhibit, Madagascar!, get you eye-to-eye with massive crocodiles, majestic tigers, and inquisitive gorillas.

As the world’s largest urban zoo, the Bronx Zoo features more than 600 species from around the globe. Meet some of our mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, and insects, and learn about their natural history, biology, cultural roles, and conservation status.

Be sure to check the daily schedule of feedings and enrichment demonstrations happening at exhibits throughout the park.

Directions:

The BxM11 express bus makes stops along Madison Avenue, between 26th and 99th Streets, then travels directly to the Zoo’s Bronx River entrance (Gate B). For your return trip, pick up the bus just outside the same gate at the MTA BxM11 sign (just before the underpass).

Subway No. 2 train Pelham Parkway Station is close to Gate B. This station has three elevators (wheelchair accessible) that lead down to street level. Head west to the Zoo's Bronx River entrance.
